In the Tuskegee Experiment conducted in from the 1930s, the American government deliberately infected a number of healthy Black men with syphillis and monitoried their progress, as they died and spread the disease over the next 40 years. This attrocity was covered up with the following statement from President Clinton: “The United States government did something that was wrong deeply, profoundly, morally wrong. It was an outrage to our commitment to integrity and equality for all our citizens…clearly racist…”
